It pays to be a bit paranoid as a CEO. You have to feel constant threat of going out of business, competitors, disruption of your industry. Once you get complacent, you lose.
Being paranoid as a CEO means you’re constantly preparing for any negative event that might affect your business. It means you’re pushing forward, looking over your shoulder, and moving on a fast pace.
There really isn’t no other way to make sure that you’ll stay ahead, as there is always someone who wants to take your position. Leaders in any market have all the possibilities to stay ahead – trust of the clients, large customer base, more money, more people, more connections. Yet, it’s not uncommon for leaders to lose their position. Leaders get comfortable.
Don’t get comfortable. Be paranoid as a CEO.
